這兩個注釋要放在一起解釋，Take a penny, leave a penny常見於美國的便利商店櫃台前。由於一分美元價值很小，為了這點錢掏錢包很麻煩，這時候你就可以從take a penny, leave a penny的小盤子裡拿取一分美元。另外也是讓有多餘硬幣的客人樂捐小錢讓大家方便的東西。
另外在歌詞中常常有leave a dollar in，語意是把一塊錢放進去，但是為了順口，有些地方麗莎省略金額直接打了"錢"，還請見諒呦~
